William T. Hatch

May 26, 1924 — January 8, 2013

William T. Hatch, Sr., 88, passed peacefully on January 8, 2013 at Bay Park Hospital. He was born in Toledo on May 26, 1924, to Arthur and Edith Hatch. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. After returning from the war, he worked for American Optical and the Toledo Public Schools. William was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Christ Dunberger V.F.W. Post as well as a proud 3rd degree member of the Free Masons since 1947.

For many years he has enjoyed going to Florida in the winter. He also enjoyed car racing and was able to go to the Indy 500 races several times. Family was of great importance throughout his life.

William was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Meinke; sisters, Marilouise Lamb and Dorothy Starkey and brother, Robert Hatch. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline (France) Hatch; brother, Bernard (Mona) Hatch; children, Tom (Sue), Jennifer a.k.a. Mahara and James (Phyllis) Hatch; grandchildren, Tom, Nichole, Andreana, Renee, Nicholas, Jammie, Kyle and Kevin and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 South Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.  Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to DaVita of Northwood, St. Mark Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to give a special thank you to all of the staff at DaVita of Northwood and Bay Park Community Hospital.
