Wesley L. Menter, 83, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016.  He was born on April 29, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to Alex and Ida Jane Menter.  Wesley served in the Ohio State Naval Militia before joining the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.  Following the war he worked at Libbey Owens Ford for 30 years, retiring in 1983.  In his spare time, Wesley enjoyed fishing and was an excellent wood carver.  He won many ribbons for his carvings and was known to carve just about anything.

Wesley is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Marlene; children, Jeff (Ann) Menter, Judy (Jim) Pilewski, Laurie (Crash) Carter, Tim (Julie) Menter, Cindy (Henry) Treece, Vickie (Keith McKenzie) Menter and Wes Jr. “Larry” (Chris) Menter; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Menter and sister, Lois Ludeman.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2-7 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
