Wayne Carl Bauman, 74, of Oregon, OH, passed away on September 18, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1950 to Junior and Esther Bauman in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in Curtice, Ohio.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Wayne did not know a stranger and always was willing to lend a helping hand. His family and friends were near and dear to his heart. Wayne loved to travel, play cards, be a spectator at his grandchildren’s activities, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He especially loved to watch The Ohio State Buckeyes beat Xichigan!
Wayne was a graduate of Clay High School Class of 1968. Wayne worked for over 30 years at British Petroleum as a machinist and crane operator. He was a Christian by faith and an active member at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio. People who knew Wayne were drawn to his hard work ethic, loyalty, giving nature, quirky sense of humor, dance moves, and selfless nature.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Esther (Gomersall) Bauman; his father, Junior Bauman; and his sister, Analisa Kemlein. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Linda (Panning) Bauman; his children, Nicholas (Jamie) Bauman; Matthew (Angela) Bauman; his grandchildren, Aspen (Annabelle) Bauman; Ciara Bauman, Bailey (fiancée- Audrey Huggins) Bauman, Dryden Bauman, Loren (Mitchell Thistlethwaite) Bauman, Lillian Bauman, and Avery Bauman; great-grandchild, Finnegan Bauman; and brother, Allan Bauman.
Friends will be received at Freck Funeral Chapel for a visitation on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Williston on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Family will greet guests after 9:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family welcomes all friends and family to return to the church for a luncheon following the burial service. In spirit of Wayne’s giving nature, the family is asking that donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and the Luther Home of Mercy.
