WARREN  G. “DIN” LEWINSKI

Warren G. Lewinski, 92, of Toledo and formerly of Oregon, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Parkcliffe Alzheimer’s Community in Toledo. He was born in Toledo on April 5, 1921 to Harold and Marie (Goodeman) Lewinski and was a graduate of Libbey High School. He attended Toledo University and then proudly served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He worked for Pure Oil as a lab technician and later with Standard Oil retiring from BP Oil in 1986. He was a member of the BP Neighborhood Association.

Din was a former Assistant Fire Chief with Oregon Fire Department #3 and was active with the Fire Department Convention where he enjoyed the Fish Fries. He loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting and boating and was a charter member of the Harborview Yacht Club. Din enjoyed various road trips, travelling with family and spending time at their cottage on the Toussaint River. He was a member of the Toussaint River Association and the Great Lakes Recovery Program.

He is survived by his son, Dennis J. “Denny” (Sandy) Lewinski; daughter, Susan M. (Douglas L.) Gardner; grandchildren, Amy Lewinski Orris, Douglas J. (Lisa) Gardner and James “Jim” Lewinski; great-grandchildren, Leah and Krista Gardner, Chelsie and Mallori Rivera and Jason Lee Orris; great-great-grandson, Travis and sister-in-law, Alice Lewinski along with many nieces and nephews. Din was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Beulah Lewinski who passed in 2007; brother, William “Pat” Lewinski and many other dear family members and lifelong friends.

Family and friends may visit from 2-9 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon where a fireman’s service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at North Oregon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Oregon Fire Department #3, Parkcliffe Community and Heartland Hospice.
