Walter Ward, Jr., 80, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born in Toledo on January 15, 1934 to Walter J. and Ada (Traufler) Ward, Sr. and for over 26 years worked as a furnace operator with Industrial Heat Treating until their closing in 1991. He was a proud union representative for the UAW Local 12 and in his spare time enjoyed working in his yard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Thebeau) Ward whom he married on September 19, 1964; daughter, Wanda Lutz Ward; son, Walter J. Ward, III (Tammy Davidson); grandchildren, Anthony Okonski, Erica Ward and Walter Ward, IV; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Manuel Okonski and Cody Guilda; brother, Richard “Whitey” Ward and sister, Marilyn Williams. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Geraldine, Delores and Barbara.
In honoring his wishes there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements were entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon. Memorial contributions can be made to Cutie’s Fund.
