VERNON D. FAIRCHILD
Vernon D. Fairchild, 77, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Parkcliffe Community at Northwood. He was born in Ashland, KY on July 9, 1937 to Delbert and Alice (Murray) Fairchild and began his 40 year career as a Millwright with Interlake Steel and then with North Star where he retired. Vern was an avid reader who also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was proud of his family and attended many sporting events in which his children and grandchildren participated.
He is survived by his children, Dana (Connie) Fairchild, Kelly (John) Carr and Kerry (April) Fairchild; grandchildren, Dustin (Victoria), Alexis, Kailey and Trey Fairchild; special friend Betsy and in-home caregiver, Brenda. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Fairchild; three sisters and one brother.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Thursday with the Funeral Service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
