Tommy B. Ley Sr., 75, of Delta, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Swanton Healthcare. He was born on July 14, 1940 in Lima, Ohio to Regina Burke. Tommy was a graduate from Waite High School then honorably served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he won a Golden Gloves Boxing Title. Once he returned home he received an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo and went on to work as a Deputy and a Corrections Officer for the City of Toledo until he retired. Tommy was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Thelma Ley; children, Tommy (Denise) Ley Jr., Tonnie (Joel) Jimenez, Telly (Chuck Seel) Ley and Toby (Michele) Ley and 9 grandchildren. Tommy was preceded in death by his mother.
Arrangements are being handled by the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon. A visitation will take place on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Rd., Toledo. Funeral services will be held that day at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
