Timothy "Buckeye" Schmidlin

March 8, 1952 — May 23, 2024

Timothy J. Schmidlin, age 72, won eternal life in Heaven on Thursday, May 23, 2024. He was born and raised in Oregon, Ohio on March 8, 1952 to John and Maude Schmidlin. Tim was a 1970 graduate of Clay High School and married his wife, Karen on November 5, 1976. Tim retired with over 40 years working in the Scale Business.  After retirement, he obtained his STNA/EMT certificate and worked for ProMedica Hospital for nine years. Tim also served on the Northwood Zoning Board for many years and was a van driver for Lake Schools. Finally retiring, he moved to Hillsdale, Michigan where he and his wife spent the past four years.

Tim made many friends over the years and stayed very active in his High School Class Reunion Group. He loved God, his family, Ohio State football, his Harley motorcycle, and his Kubota tractor. Tim extended his love for football by volunteering to coach for area schools and his grandkids teams. He also enjoyed singing and music and was a former member of the Velvetone Choraliers. Tim will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen Schmidlin; daughters, Jodi (Don) Halka, and Shannon (Scott) Bylow; grandchildren, Logan (Maddison) Halka, Levi Halka, Lilliann Bylow, Weston Bylow, and Brittany Bylow; sisters, Judy Morgan, Cindy Lark, and Jennifer Greene; sisters-in-law, Diana Schmidlin, and Patricia Schmidlin; special brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Kim Kwiatkowski and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, John, Mike, and Bob; sister, Becky; his great-grandson, Luke John Halka; his nephews, Dennis and Mark; and niece Laura.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 12-7:00 p.m. where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Hillsdale County.
