Thomas Andrew Meyers II age 56 of Toledo, passed away at Swanton Health Care on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Tommy was born in Toledo to Thomas A. and Frances (Pierce) Meyers on February 16, 1965. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America in 1980 also obtaining the Bronze Palm Leaf in that year. In 1982, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Tommy retired from the coast guard in 2004 his last unit served as Port Security unit 302/309 out of Port Clinton, Ohio. He served several campaigns including Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Tommy graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1983. He earned a degree in law enforcement in 1985. He later earned his Bachelor in Nursing in 1994. His nursing career started at Riverside Hospital where he worked until its closing. He went on to serve as the Director of Nursing at Josina Lott Residential, Swanton Health Care, and Oak Leaf Village before retiring. In 1991, he participated in the National Victory Parade in Washington D.C. and in New York City, which was a ticker-tape parade. In 2019, he participated in the Honor Flight.
Thomas is survived by his wife Stacey; mother Frances; mother-in-law Sandy Rish; sister-in-law Robin (Billy) Johnson; nieces and nephews Kori (Brandon) Harley, Justin Algarin, Shelby, and Levi Johnson; and great-nephews and niece Riley, Michael, Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his father and great-niece Emma Harley.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel in Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 2 until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday in the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. with military honors to follow. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the charity of choice.
