Thomas Henry Furry Jr.

Thomas Henry Furry Jr. age 81, of Toledo, passed away February 4, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Thomas was born to Thomas Sr. and Rhoda (Daily) Furry on August 21, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Scott High before serving our country in the United States Marine Corps. After the Corps, he briefly attended Toledo Com Tech and was hired into the Toledo Police Department. Thomas served 25 years and retired as a Sargeant in 1988. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He loved to teach shooting and fishing. Thomas was a volunteer for the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge as a tour guide and as part of the bald eagle observation program.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 21 years Carol; children Eric (Kim) Furry, Elizabeth (Paul II) Fleming, Bonnie (Jason) Stagner and Karen (Jim) Lewandowski; grandchildren Kirsten, Mikala, Morgan (Chase), Emma, Alex, Paul III, Teddy, Tristan, Gabriel, Connor, Aidan, Jennifer (Jeff, and Laura (Jonathan Sr.); great-grandchildren Jackson, Jonathan Jr., and Haylee; siblings David Furry, Yvonne (Walt) DuPont, Madeline (Mike) Brown and Ruth Ann (Ron) Lutman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Anthony, and sister-in-law Peggy Furry.

Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the chapel at 12:30 p.m. and continue on with a Funeral Mass held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church 212 N. Stadium Rd in Oregon, Ohio at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge 14000 Rte. 2 Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449.
