Thomas L. Carter, Sr. passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born May 24, 1937 in Toledo to Ivan W. and Mabel L. (Frees) Carter. He served his country proudly while enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korea War. On July 26, 1975, Tom married Glenna (Moses) Carter. Tom worked in the trucking industry for over 25 years and became disabled in 1981. Tom enjoyed fishing, card playing and maintaining his lawn. Tom loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by Glenna, his loving wife of 38 years; children, Sherry Derseweh, Thomas (Cindy) Driftmeyer, Candice Bradford, Kenneth (Donna) Driftmeyer and Thomas (Laurie) Carter, Jr.; grandchildren, Nicole & Mindy Derseweh, Santino Cordero-Carter, Destiny Driftmeyer, Ashley & Christopher Bradford, Kyle & Kaitlyn Driftmeyer, and Thomas Carter III . Tom was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings and son, James Carter.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
