Theresa Monica Cope

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Theresa Monica Cope, of Oregon, OH, passed away peacefully with her loving sons by her side. Theresa was born in Toledo, OH on April 23, 1936 to Dominic and Regina Szymanowski. She attended Libbey High School. In addition to her job at Mercy Hospital, she raised three children by herself and made sure they were brought up with love, compassion, humility, and a good dose of Catholicism. Theresa made life a big adventure for Rose Ann, Jim, and Vince. On her day off, she would drive them to places like New York, Detroit, and Canada, just so the kids had a fun experience. She took them to ballparks and passed on her love and knowledge of sports. Upon retirement, she volunteered for many years at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Theresa was able to spend her final weeks at home with the help of Jim and Vince, who selflessly and devotedly took care of her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy; granddaughter-in-law, Ashley; and great-grandson, Brenden. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann (Michael) of California; her sons, Jim (Jennifer) and Vince (Kathy) both of Toledo, OH; her sister, Rita; her grandchildren, Vince Jr., Patty (Alex), Greg, and Larry; and her two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Avery.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral chapel on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Willow Cemetery.
