TERESA S. VILLARREAL

Teresa Villarreal, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, has been one of the sweetest, most compassionate people you'd ever meet.  In the 1970's she was one of the founding women responsible for creating The Mexican Americans United Health organization and the Guadalupe Health Clinic.  She understood the need for health and education after migrating to Ohio from Texas to work in the fields with her husband and children.  There wasn't health care or services available to the workers and the families.  Her husband eventually was blessed with a job on the railroad as she didn't forget the farms.   She started working to get the care needed to the migrant farms who were predominately Hispanics. Teresa was dedicated to delivering primary healthcare services to the Mexican American community.  She won numerous awards and was recognized for her time and commitment by first lady Nancy Reagan.  She will be missed by all that she has graced with her kindness.

Preceded in death by husband, Ismael Villarreal, Sr.; parents, Raphael and Soledad (Rodriguez) Salinas; brothers, Lee & Israel Salinas and sister, Janie Valadez; she is survived by brother, Paul Salinas; children, Gloria Villarreal, Ismael Villarreal, Jr. and Bobby Villarreal; grandchildren,  Christina & Roy Olivarez, Rodney & Amanda Noe, Kelly & Todd Brittingham, Katrina & Mitchell Encalado, Jessica & Jeff Stuck, Antonio Villarreal and Curtis Dolt; and great-grandchildren, Miguel & Alex Olivarez, Damion & Savhanna Noe, Alivia & Jaxson Brittingham, Jimena, Jimmy Sandoval, Lilian Encalado, Collin and Aleeyah Villarreal.

Family and friends may visit after 3 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013, in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon where services will begin at 4 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
