Susan J. Slovak, 74, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Lane Park in Oregon. She was born on October 8, 1941 in Charleston, WV to Jack and Glenda (Hall) Corrothers. Susan attended Bowling Green State University where she received both her bachelor and master’s degree. She retired from Washington Local Schools as Dean of Students for Whitmer High School. Having an appreciation for the arts, Susan was active in the Oregon Community Theatre and enjoyed attending Musicals. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and cheering them on at all of their sporting events.
Susan is survived by her sons, Corey (Kathleen) Slovak and Casey (Nicole) Slovak; grandchildren, Madison, Kennedy, Griffen, Gavin, Jaxon, Matthew and Michael; half-brothers, Michael (Clara) Lombardo, Frank (Patti) Lombardo and Dave (Betty) Lombardo; stepmother, Nancy Corrothers and former husband and friend, Paul Slovak. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Corrothers; mother, Glenda Lombardo and stepfather, James Lombardo.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Freck Funeral Chapel from 2-8 p.m. Burial will be private in North Oregon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made directly to Corey or Casey Slovak to establish a college fund for Susan’s grandchildren.
