Steven Swartz

Steven Swartz, age 66 of Toledo passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Advanced Healthcare. Steven was born to Lawrence and Joan (Duerk) Swartz on April 10, 1956 in Oregon, Ohio. He was a 1974 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School and went on to study at the University of Toledo. Steven began his career as a Title Examiner right out of school working first for Northwest Title, working 30+ years for Louisville Title before starting his own title agency, Black Swamp Title, LLC in 2008. Steven worked every day of his life. He loved to work. He enjoyed a good renovation challenge and had several rental properties in the area. Steven was a diehard Michigan and Dodgers fan. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and a Life Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. His favorite camping spot was Camp Miakonda. Steven was a lifelong member of Epiphany of Our Lord-St Thomas. His family will always remember and cherish his corny dad jokes.

Steven is survived by his wife Phyllis; children Aaron Swartz, Adam Swartz, Matthew (Jamie) Swartz, and Carrie (Joe) Esposito; grandchildren April, Jet, Wyatt and Anthony; siblings Karen Swartz, Beth (Mike) O’Shea, and David (Kristie) Swartz; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend Steven (Pat) Major and many other close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel in Oregon, Ohio on Monday July 11, 2022 from 3 until 7 p.m. A Recitation of the Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at Epiphany of Our Lord-St. Thomas on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Boy Scouts of America.
