Stephen John Poulson

Stephen John Poulson was born in Oregon, Ohio on September 3, 1982. Steve passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 on October 2, 2023. He is survived by his beautiful children, Aubrey (RJ) St. John, Issac Sevra, Hunter Poulson; his grandchildren, Bella and Dylan St. John; his parents, Don Poulson Sr. & Shelley (Burtch) Shaffer; his brother, Don Poulson Jr. and nephew Jace Poulson, who love him more than words can express. Steve was blessed with stepbrothers, Matt Shaffer (Kristin) and Sam Shaffer (Maribel) and their families. He was also blessed with many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him dearly. Steve was preceded in death by stepfather, Don Shaffer, and grandparents, Pete & Emma Poulson, and John & Rosie Burtch.

Steve graduated from Clay High School in 2000. He went on to a career in contracting and construction, building his own business, Poulson Construction, over the years. Steve was known for his kindness and generosity. Steve’s cookouts were legendary. He loved cooking for family, friends, and sometimes the whole neighborhood. One of his favorites was Surf, Turf and Surf.  Steve was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Along with his faithful K9 companion, Gauge, his passion for hunting was a guiding light for Steve. One of the things he enjoyed most was going on the youth hunts to share his passion and help young hunters learn the sport. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ODNR Youth Hunt.

Steve’s family will be receiving family and friends to celebrate his life on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the American Legion Christ Dunberger Post, 4925 Pickle Rd, Oregon, Ohio 43616 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, Oregon, Ohio.
