Stanley “Kenny” Dauer

Although we lost Dad some time ago, Alzheimer’s made the loss permanent on June 27th and Stanley Kenneth (Stan, Kenny) Dauer was reunited with the love of his life, Mary, in Paradise.

Stan was born on March 4, 1933 in Toledo to Carl and Clarissa (Laser) Dauer. He proudly served in the United States Navy (Seabees) during the Korean Conflict. Returning home he began his career as a lineman for Toledo Edison, where he worked for 39 years. He worked various “retirement” jobs including a stint at Sears in the old Woodville Mall and his last employment was as custodian at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Stan married his beloved Mary Lee (Matney) on July 14, 1956 and they had 55 years together until her death in February of 2012.

Stan was a 52 year member of the Masonic fraternity. He was Past Master and long-time Secretary of Lotus Lodge #625 (now Paragon Lodge #788) He was also a Past President of the State Secretary’s Association of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and also a former member of the Zenobia Shrine.

Of all the things Dad did in his life, his proudest achievement was being “Papa” to his two best buddies, Drew and Joel. He was a tireless supporter of all of their activities and relished the time he spent with them.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers Gene and Keith. Left behind to cherish his memory are his son Don, favorite daughter-in-law Joyce, grandsons Drew and Joel, brother-in-law Gene Matney, sisters-in-law Dorothy Trost, Wilma Monday and Roberta Dauer, many loving nieces and nephews and “adopted” kids Tim & Dawn Yard.

Family and friends may visit at the Freck Funeral Chapel, Wynn & Pickle Rds. in Oregon on Monday, June 30th from 2-8 p.m. Paragon Lodge will perform a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 1st at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Bartley presiding. Memorial gifts may be made in Stan’s name to the Miracle League of Northwest Ohio or to Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Our family wishes to extend our thanks to the staff of Orchard Villa and Hospice of NW Ohio for their kind care over this last month. Special thanks to Rev. David Bartley for his kindness and comfort during these difficult times.

Dad; Alzheimer’s may have robbed you of your memory, but it never took your spirit. You fought the good fight and we take enormous comfort in knowing that you are with Mom, your parents and your brothers and that God holds you in the comfort of His embrace. “Well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
