Shirley D. Hickman

Shirley Hickman, 90, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Genacross of Toledo.  She was born on July 9, 1931 in El Dorado, Kansas to Frank and Dorothy Marley.

Shirley worked for JC Penny’s, in the catalog dept. for over 40 years.  After her retirement, she went to work as a receptionist at Fiberglass Federal Credit Union.  She was a member of Central Christian Church where she was a Deacon, a member of the co-workers Sunday School Class, sang in the choir and played in the handbell choir.  Shirley loved singing in Sweet Adaline’s, Vintage Voices and Joybells.  Shirley also loved going to concerts and plays.  She was a member of Licking County Players and performed in some of their plays over the years.

Shirley is survived by her children, Kim (Gary) Lemle, Scott (Linda) Hickman, and Tony (Judy) Hickman; grandchildren, Summer (Kyle) Getzinger, Andrew (Michelle) Lemle, Brittany (Mario) Burney, and Shay (Leigha) Hickman and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Philip Marley.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 9-10:30 a.m. where services will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. A celebration of Life will be held in Newark at Central Christian Church at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to Nature's Nursery, Toledo Humane Society, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Central Christian Church or Licking County Players.
