Curtice, Ohio

Sherry Lynn Walter, 63, of Curtice passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Campus on Friday, January 11, 2024.

Born February 21, 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the daughter of Kenneth Victor and Janice Pauline (Stoneking) Cannon who preceded her. She married Gregory W. Walter on July 8th, 1979.

She attended Galion Ohio Public High School and Pioneer Joint Vocational School where she trained to be a secretary, a skill set she employed to great benefit during her life. At the age of 18, she attained First Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing piano. As a stay-at-home mom, she loved volunteering at State Line Christian School while her children attended and was an involved member of Gracepointe Church where she participated in the music ministry. After her children were grown, she turned her talents to a career as a virtual assistant and a voice-over artist. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband and her two children Rosalie Danielle (Matthew) Doane of Maryland and Zachary (Autumn) Walter of Montana; grandchildren Donovan and Aurora Doane; siblings Julie Cerar of Galion, Kenneth “Kip” Cannon of Port Clinton, and Dan (Kim) Cannon of Crestline; aunt Bertie McCartney of Phoenix; and nephew Bob Cerar of Galion.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, Ohio 43616. In addition, visitation will occur at Gracepointe Church, 4035 Williston Rd., Northwood, Ohio 43619 from 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, directly followed at the same location by the funeral at 11 a.m. Sherry will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Gracepointe Church or Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission.
