Sharon was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents, Samuel and Virginia (Fosty) Tauberg. She grew up in many cities in the U. S. due to her father’s sales occupation but her roots were in Toledo, Oh. where she chose to go to nursing school at Mercy. Her dream was delayed because she met the man she would be married to for 39 years, Harold “Harry” Oneail. They raised 7 children together. While being a great Mom, she also worked for JC Penney’s in sales until she was finally able to pursue her nursing career and became an LPN, starting work at St. Charles in 1978. Sharon then went back to school and became an RN in 1986. Because her husband got the travel bug, she took a leave of absence and toured the United States together in an RV for 2 years.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1994. After 25 years of working in ICU, Cardiac Stress lab and Recovery Room at St. Charles, making wonderful friendships, she chose to retire in 2003. Her retirement was filled with many enjoyable years traveling, with her sister and brother-in-law, to Europe, Romania and Ireland. Most recently, she was able to make one last trip with her kids to New Hampshire for an Oneail family reunion. She also spent that time volunteering at Bay Park and St. Charles hospitals and enjoying being with her family.
Sharon will be remembered as fun loving, intelligent, unselfish, as she always put others first, especially her children. She was hardworking with a great sense of humor and very hearty laugh.
Sharon is survived by her adoring children: Dan, Terry (Susie), Lauren (Jack) Kurth, Patricia (James) Rogers, Jim (Tim German), Shane and Shawn; her grandchildren, whom she loved more than anything, Jason and Jacob Kurth, Dustin and Katie Oneail, Larry “Jeffrey” and Stephanie Morrow, Taylor and Tyler Rogers, Brandon and Shawn Oneail, Christopher Hilt and Shane “Connor” Oneail; great-grandchildren, Cruz, Marisa, Luke and Alicia; sister, Sandra (Jim) Hess; aunt, Mary Ann (Frank) Valencic; brother-in-law, John (Patty) Oneail; sister-in-law, Colleen Oneail; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Edward Oneail and aunt, Edna Fosty.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel Wynn at Pickle Rd. (419) 693-9304, Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and continue on with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church 300 Warner St., Walbridge. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
