Sadie Elsie Medlin, 96, of Oregon, OH, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Orchard Villa in Sadie (Elsie) Medlin, 96 of Oregon, Ohio and Stoney Ridge passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family on Saturday June 15, 2013 at Orchard Villa Nursing home. Elsie was born September 10, 1916 in Knox County TN to George and Were (Armstrong) Mays from Friendsville TN. Elsie worked in support of the troops in WWII and was considered a "Rosie The Riveter" girl at the Alcoa Aluminum Company. Elsie was also part of the Top Secret Oak Ridge Atomic City project that assembled the first Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. She married highly decorated WWII US Army Air Corps veteran George Ray Medlin, Sr. on August 2, 1947 in Maryville, TN. Elsie's passions in life were her family, her arts, quilt making and her passion of visiting casinos.

Elsie was very proud of being the oldest active, dues paying Eastern Star member in Williston South Carolina. She was a true believer in Faith, Hope, and Charity, God, Community, and Family. She also loved her beloved Smoky Mountains.

Elsie is survived by her loving children, Albert (Freda) Bell, Cornelia (Elmer) George, Ray (Diane) Medlin Jr., and Vernon Medlin. Elsie had ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Medlin Sr., her granddaughters, Melissa Emerson and Joyce Johnson and also her daughter in law Barbara Medlin.

Elsie was a proponent of Sinatra's song, "I Did It My Way". To those who knew and loved her, she certainly did. In life and in death, she did it her way. As per Elsie's request services will be private.
