Ruth Vere (Hancock) Jacquillard

Ruth Vere Jaquillard, 92, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at Parkcliff in Northwood. She was born February 23, 1926 in Bradner, OH. Ruth entered nursing when she was 17 at Women’s and Children’s Hospital which later became Riverside. She earned her tuition into training by picking produce, baby sitting, housework and working in a glass factory.  Ruth married William Jaquillard Jr. and when he returned from Korea they built their home with their own hands. It was the best time ever! He died in 1992 of a heart attack. After their children were in school Ruth returned to nursing and worked at Riverside in charge on men’s annex. She worked 1 year as a district nurse; 18 years at Libby Owens Ford as occupational nurse. Ruth returned to Riverside for a refresher course and then 18 years at Haughton Elevator as occupational nurse before retiring. Ruth gave first aid, aiding the company doctor. She taught CPR, first aid, health classes, along with workers compensation and recording, enjoying it all.

Ruth is survived by daughters Dawn (Dave) Bittner and Shelley Lorenz; grandchildren Christopher (Kayhley) Conley and Bryan Nissen, Scott (Margie) Lorenz, Ashley (Ian) Lorenz-Bassett and Marrisa Lorenz; great grandchildren Avery Grace, Christopher Jr. and Abby. She is preceded in death by parents James and Cleo (Stiger) Hancock; son-in-law Michael Lorenz; brothers Ralph (Marie) Hancock and James (Mildred) Hancock.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 4-7p.m.  Graveside service will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park mausoleum.
