Ruth Ann Gilbert

Ruth Ann Gilbert age 85 passed away on February 3, 2024 at Bay Park Community Hospital. Ruth Ann was born to Frank and Irene (Crable) Garufos in Circleville, Ohio on April 21, 1938. She was a graduate of Whitney Vocational and married her husband Edward E. Gilbert in 1956. They shared 46 years of marriage until his death in 2003. Ruth Ann was an active member of East Toledo Baptist Church volunteering in Sunday school, nursery, and other activities. Ruth Ann liked to support the community and was the director of the East Toledo Baptist Community Meal program for over 29 years. In her younger years she was president of the Mother’s Club/PTA for Marshall School, a Girl Scout leader, classroom helper, active in Whitmer Choir Boosters, and served as March of Dimes Captain.

Ruth Ann is survived by her daughter Pamela Gilbert; son Edward (Sue) Gilbert II; grandchildren Trevor, Brandon, Tyler, Marchelle (Kenny), Trina and Shawn; many great-grandchildren; and a host of Christian friends and family at East Toledo Baptist. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Laurie, brother George Garufos, her parents, aunt Toby Crable and close niece Nancy Williams.

A private burial will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, she will be laid to rest next to her husband Edward. Memorial contributions are appreciated to her daughter, Pamela.
