Russell O. Bodette Sr., 93, of Genoa, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2015 while surrounded by his loved ones in Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Perrysburg facility. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 2, 1921 to Russell L. and Adah (Wilkinson) Bodette. Russell served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a doctor’s mate. Once he returned from service he married, the love of his life, Calliroye and started a family. Russell was self employed as a carpenter for 40 years until retiring. In that time he also taught carpentry at the local union hall. Russell was a member of the American Legion Post #455 in Woodville and the V.F.W., as well as First St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, designing homes, drafting, drawing and going to the Toledo Zoo. Russell was an avid O.S.U. fan. Out of all his great accomplishments his family was his greatest and will miss him dearly.
Russell is survived by his sons, Russell Bodette Jr. and Christopher L. Bodette; grandson, Christopher M. Bodette; great grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, Callie, Leorah and Devin He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; great grandson, Matthew and siblings, Robert and Lois.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be given to First St. John Lutheran Church.
