Roy E. Sheely, Jr. age 83, of Oregon, OH. passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016. He was born June 11, 1933 in Tiro, OH. Roy worked for New York Central Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail for a total of 41 years, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Korea during the Korean War in the 112th Railroad Battalion, attaining the rank of STF. Sgt. Roy was a member of the American Legion Post #334 and V.F.W. Post #2510.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Diana Sheely; son, Dale (Michelle) Sheely; sister, Maxine Eischen; stepchildren, Vickie, Pennie, Lori and Gerry. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Aileen Sheely; son, Steven Sheely and sisters, Norma and Donita.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon from 10:30-12 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. Private burial will take place at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
