Roy A. Schrader, age 94, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born on September 4, 1930 in Swanton, Ohio to Edward and Ethel (Hanna) Schrader. Roy attended Libbey High School before serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany, during the Korean War. Roy worked as an area manager for 48 years for the Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 2000.
Roy was a very active and athletic man. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing and then playing football while in the service. He exercised daily and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and racket ball. He was skilled enough to shoot a hole in one. In his spare time, he loved to take care of his yard and pond. Fishing with his daughter and taking trips to Coldwater Lake with Ken and Mary Norman where his favorite times. He will be dearly missed.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Norman) Wilson; children, Kathy (Frank) Schrader, Joan (Mike) Manwarren, Michael (Sherry) Schrader, Daniel (Irene) Schrader, Tony (Lisa) Schrader, Joseph (Jocelyn) Schrader, Andrea (Robert) Schultz, and Thomas (Amy) Wilson; 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Royanne Sanderson; grandson, Michael Joseph Schrader Jr.; and his siblings, Chuck Ewald, Eugene Ewald, Edward Schrader, identical twin, Ronnie Schrader, Dick Schrader, and Glen Schrader.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 11-4:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
