Rosemary E. Vamos, age 93, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Gardens of St. Francis. She was born on March 1, 1930 in Curtice, Ohio to Joseph and Hazel Hornyak. Rosemary was a 1948 graduate of Genoa High School. She married her husband, Stephen on August 27, 1955. Rosemary worked as a claim representative for the Social Security Administration, retiring after 26 years of service. She was a life-long and active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rosemary served as a eucharistic minister and was a member of the Altar & Rosary and St Vincent de Paul Societies as well as a devoted volunteer for a variety of church ministries. She will be dearly missed.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Stephen Vamos; children, Stephen (Margaret Masterson) Vamos, Kathleen (JR Torda) Vamos; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Gabriella Vamos, Casey and Monica Torda; siblings, Virginia Molnar, Joseph (Carol) Hornyak, and Tom (Laila Kujala) Hornyak. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Annamae Zajacz.
Family and friends may visit the Gardens of St. Francis, 930 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 3-6:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 9-10:00 a.m. where the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands of St. Louis or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Epiphany of the Lord Parish.
