Ronald Dean Sherer, age 70, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. Ronald was born to Earl and Hazel Sherer on July 31, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. Ronald worked for Toledo Edison as a Safety Coordinator retiring in 1993. He recently commented to the news on the history of the ACME Edison plant, where he worked and was injured in an accident in 1971, when he lost part of his leg. He spent many nights traveling to Detroit making it possible for his 3 sons to play travel hockey. He and Mary enjoyed traveling to hockey tournaments, making friends with hockey families and sharing special memories. Some of his favorite trips were to Sweden, Dayton, Cleveland, Portland, Atlanta, and NY. Ronald graduated from Waite High School and was a member of the Mainstreet United Brethren Church, Genoa area Masons, and volunteered at the GAF driving the handicapped golf cart.  He enjoyed spending time with friends at Karaoke night in Toledo and in Florida where he and his wife wintered in Kissimmee. He enjoyed doing handyman work in his garage where he could fix anything. Nascar racing was a passion of his along with trips to Toledo Speedway where in his early years he and his brothers wrenched on his dad’s race car. Ronald was the kind of guy who never met a stranger, and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
