Ronald F. Ray, 77, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Bay Park Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1940 in Toledo. Ron was a 1958 graduate of Woodward High School. He served in the Army from 1958-1964 and was stationed in Korea. After leaving the military, he served as a law enforcement officer for Sylvania Twp., Maumee and in Ft. Lauderdale as both police officer and helicopter pilot. Ron became a private helicopter pilot for Willard Rockwell and also for Crescent Airways which led to flying in Alaska for the Exxon Valdez oil spill. After retiring from flying he worked for the U.S. Marshall Service in Dayton as a CSO. In his retirement Ron was an avid fisherman.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Darlene; children, Marla Ray, Tammy (Tim) Chadwick and Jennifer (Peter) Miles; step-children, Dina (Brian) Biglin and Dru (Marie) Smith; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Hal (Pat) Ray and sister, Debbie (Don) Whiting. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mary Ray; daughter, Shelly and his twin brother, Fred.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 12-6 p.m. with military honors at 3 p.m. Private services will be observed by the family.
