ROLAND E. “ROLLIE” ACKERMAN
Roland E. Ackerman, 82, of Toledo passed away at his home on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born in Toledo on December 24, 1930 to Louis and Sophia (Joehlin) Ackerman and for 46 years worked as a metal spinner foreman with Toledo Metal Spinning, retiring in 1996. Rollie was a Miami “HEAT” basketball enthusiast, enjoyed listening to “old” country music and playing with his dog “Goldie”.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Pete) Yackee, John (Cindy) Ackerman and Venus (Larry II) Lammon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and siblings, Velda Brehm, Larry Ackerman and Clyde Ackerman along with many dear nieces and nephews. Rollie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Otto Lallendorf and sisters, Marian Ackerman and Wilma Zuvers.
Family and friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
