Rock Edward Martin

Rock E. Martin, 69, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center.  He was born on June 22, 1954 in Hartford, Connecticut to his father, Kenneth Martin, and moved to Swanton, Ohio shortly thereafter.  Rock spent much of his early childhood and subsequent summers throughout his youth with his beloved grandmother, Louise Martin.

Rock’s affinity for carpentry led him to become self-taught in a variety of skilled trades.  He worked as a maintenance technician for 35 years, retiring in 2022.  Rock was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and trap shooting.  He was also very skilled at woodworking and playing pool.  But most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

Rock is survived by his children, Michelle (Joshua) Antoine, and Joshua Martin; grandchild, Jazlyn Antoine; uncles, Ronald Martin, Michael Martin, and Robert Martin; and his aunts, Nancy Shuherk, and Mary Drew.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Martin; his grandmother, Louise Martin; his father, Kenneth Martin; the mother of his children, Louann Martin; and his uncles, Donald, and Howard Martin.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 10-12:00 p.m. where services will be held at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
