Robert was born February 26th, 1937 to Mary and Leo Wood of Toledo. He graduated from Macomber high school, and worked for the City of Toledo Traffic Engineering Division for over 33 years. Never one to sit still, he enjoyed fishing, cards, attending garage and estate sales, and collecting tools. He spent many hours in his garage servicing and repairing items for himself and others. He loved all animals, and never met a dog that he could not befriend. He was active in the Catholic Church, and often volunteered his time for the church and local community aid organizations delivering food and clothing baskets to those needing help.
Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Boos, in June of 1959, and they have two sons, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling and spending vacation trips with their children.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; sons Daniel (Deborah) Wood and Jeffrey (Chris) Wood; grandchildren Sonia Johnstone, Jaclyn Calderon, and Audrey Wood; step grandchildren Matt and Alyson Koch; great grandchildren Mathew and Julia Johnstone, Brennen and Damion Calderon; step grandchild Bre’An Calderon; sister Betty Shultz; sisters in law Darlene Dickens and Janet Boos; many nieces and nephews; best friend Frank Marks; family friends Phyllis and Rich Natal, Leon and Mona Richey, and Evelyn Plentz.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 2-8 p.m.at the Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn road in Oregon Ohio. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
