Robert P. “Bob” Wenzlaff, age 49, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Robert was born on December 24, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio to Paul and Mary (Heffernan) Wenzlaff. He graduated from Whitmer High School and the University of Toledo. Robert worked for Imaging Systems Technology as a Senior Engineer for 15 years. Bob served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1989 to 1997. He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, where he was known as Godfree and prepared wonderful feasts, created armor and stitched beautiful garments and painted stunning illuminations. These were only a few of the many talents he possessed. Bob was also a published writer and has won awards for his brewing abilities. Bob was an outstanding husband and father, always providing for his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Alice Wenzlaff; father, Paul E. Wenzlaff; children Alexandria Nicole “Nikki” Wenzlaff, Liam Wenzlaff, Connor Wenzlaff and Corinne Wenzlaff; four grandchildren; siblings Anne Rush, Mickey Jones, Terry Payne, Kerry Rottenstein and David Roberts; godfather/uncle, Erwin Wenzlaff; cousins, Sue Wenzlaff and Sandy Frank; nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wenzlaff, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wenzlaff; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Heffernan and great uncle, Willie Gross.
Arrangements are being handled by Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. A memorial service will take place at Park United Church of Christ, 1456 Harvard Blvd., on Friday, June 6 at 11 a.m. A visitation will take place one prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice.
