Robert C. Recker

November 10, 1946 — April 15, 2022

Oregon

Bob Recker, age 75 of Oregon, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 15, 2022, at St. Charles Hospital. He was born on November 10, 1946, on the Recker farm in Lake Township, Ohio to Wayne and Violet (Snyder) Recker.

He attended Lake High School, graduating in 1964, where he participated in track, wrestling, and was Senior class president. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon where he made many life-long friends. He later obtained his Master’s Degree in Administration from Eastern Michigan University. Bob taught for 30 years at Swartz Creek Community Schools in Michigan, both as a science teacher and driver’s education instructor. He later taught Human Anatomy & Physiology at Lansing Community College in Lansing, MI. When he returned to live in Ohio, he held a teaching position with Woodmore Schools in Elmore, Ohio. Bob married Linda (Ammons) in Genoa on July 27, 1968. Together they raised two children, Dr. Steven (Yuki) Recker, DC of Playa Del Rey, CA, and Sara (Ben) Wilkiemeyer of Troy, MI.

In his free time, Bob’s favorite place to be was outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and growing a variety of flowers. He was the family touchstone for plant information. When not “playing in the dirt,” he was either riding his bike or taking walks with Linda and their dog, Lucy, on the trails of Pearson Park.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Connie (Keaton), brother-in-law’s Frank Scheuneman and Richard Chappuis. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; children, Steven and Sara; and very special grandsons, Shane and Drew Wilkiemeyer. Also sharing in our grief are his brother, Jon (Amy) Recker; sisters, Bonnie Scheuneman, Betty (George) Katakis, and Sue (Mike) Pavlica. Also surviving are many extended family; Ned and Ruth Ammons; sister-in-law, Carol (Mike) Chappuis; and brother-in-law, Neil Ammons (Diane).

Arrangements for Bob are being handled by Freck Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at a later date.
