Robert William Jones

Robert William Jones, 68, of Northwood, OH passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Mercy-St. Vincent Hospital. He was born February 11, 1947 in Ft. Sill, OK to Elver “Babe” and Ethel (Casey) Jones. Robert served two tours during Vietnam in the U.S. Army, receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He worked for 40 years with Heidtman Steel. Robert was a retired volunteer member of the Northwood Fire dept.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and hunting and was affectionately known as “Uncle Turkey” to his nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Gregory Jones; grandchildren, Jasmyn Caredio, Hayley Jones and Brayden Jones; godson, Robert E. Jones; siblings, Debbie (Ron) Jeffries, Neil (Michele) Collins-Jones, Dale (Brenda) Jeffries-Jones and Howard (Linda) Jones, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. where a last alarm service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Northwood Fire Department or the Veterans of Foreran Wars Association.
