Rick David Bodi

Rick D. Bodi, age 67, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away from a hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving daughter, sister, and girlfriend. Rick was born June 3, 1955 in Oregon, Ohio to Harvey J. and Blanche (Almroth) Bodi.

Rick joined the Army at 17 and graduated from boot camp at Fort Jackson, South Carolina on August 14, 1972. After his graduation he was stationed in Germany where he attained his G.E.D. while deployed. After serving, Rick returned home to Bono, Ohio where he raised his two beautiful daughters, Nikki and Jennifer.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman and steward of the land. His domain was the great black swamp. Hunting, fishing, and trapping were a way of life for Rick. He was a masterful hunter/trapper traversing his great black swamp like the back of his hand with his best friend Mike Mominee. He enjoyed his walks and hunts with his four-legged companions, commonly seen walking the dikes and shorelines of his great Lake Erie. Rick also had a passion for gardening, proudly showing off his magnificent plantings and telling you how green his thumb really was. Rick began his career at Textileather on July 25, 1978 and retired on January 30, 2009. During his career at Textileather he served for many years as the AFL-CIO Local 224 third shift union steward.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Clark Bodi. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Josh) Parlette, and Nikki Harris; his girlfriend, Carol Kucinski; his sisters, Teri Taylor, Carol (Lonnie) Courter, Mary (James) Worley; his grandchildren, Austin Harris, Joshua Parlette, Gavin Parlette, Kristen Harris, Paige Harris, and Kaylee Harris; his nephew, Jason Worley; and his nieces Tonya Taylor, Amy Shea, Darrah Courter, and Jamie (Ryan) Lockwood.

Rick will be laid to rest at a later time at Restlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, Oregon, Ohio.
