Richard R. Singlar, 82, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  He was born June 23, 1935 in Toledo to the late Edward and Margaret (Kain) Singlar. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Helen, daughter Kathy, sons Rick (Wendy) and Brian (Robyn), grandchildren, Greg (Erin), Lindsey, Nathan and Nicholas; brother, Donald (Joann); son-in-law Sal Sanchez and many loving nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by daughter Christine Sanchez; brother John; and sister Clara (Bob) Radcliffe. Richard served in the U.S. Army. After his service, he worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad and later worked for the City of Toledo.  He spent much of his free time building, remodeling, and performing various projects around the house. He generously gave of these talents to his family and friends.  He always kept busy and took great pride in the quality of his work.  He savored the simple things in life: going for long rides in the country, watching old movies, and attending Sunday Mass at St. Stephen.  He was very proud of his Hungarian heritage. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his family.  Richard leaves behind many lasting memories for his grandchildren: from stories of his childhood adventures, serving in the Army with Elvis, working on the railroad, his knowledge of tools, singing of old songs, and most of all the love he showed for their grandmother. He was a quiet man who lived with integrity, had a generous heart, he will be greatly missed and always remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Epiphany of the Lord (St. Stephen) Church.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by the Rite of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Epiphany of Our Lord (St. Stephen Church, 1880 Genesee St., Toledo, OH 43605).  Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
