RICHARD  JOHN  KNAK

Richard J. Knak, 72, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Genoa Care Center. He was born March 28, 1942 in Toledo to Paul E. and Frieda (Miller) Knak and was a graduate of Clay High School. For over 40 years, Richard was a sheet metal journeyman with Fred Christen & Sons Local 33 retiring as Foreman. He was a volunteer with the Jerusalem Twp Fire Department for 14 years serving as Chief Engineer. He was a gifted craftsman and woodworker providing various handmade pieces in the community. He made the cross on top of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where he was a member, designed and made the lettering and equipment stands for Jerusalem Twp Fire Department and created pieces for O-I and other churches throughout NW Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Knak; daughter, Nancy Brittian; son, Michael Knak (Andrea); grandson, Cameron Brittian; sister, Joan Radeloff; brother, Charles Knak; In-laws, Paul (Marge) Klawitter, Charlotte (Bob) Siebenaller, Rita Johns (Jim), Ruth Pendrey, Jean (Steven) Lorenzen along with many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Emma Klawitter; daughter-in-law, Rebecca White; twin brother, Robert Knak; brother, Paul, Jr.; sister, Delores Davis; and brothers-in-law, Dale Davis, Fritz Radeloff and Robert Pendrey.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. with the Fireman’s Service to begin at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Twp Fire Department or the National Kidney Foundation. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Genoa Care Center, DaVita Dialysis in Oregon, Chief Tony Parasiliti and Jerusalem Twp Fire Dept, Lynne and Ron Demko and Dave and Cindy Bench and their family.
