Ray E. Gremminger, Jr., age 75 of Toledo, OH, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 surrounded by his family. Ray was born on February 15, 1948 in Canton, OH to his late parents, Mary Slawter and Ray Gremminger, Sr. Ray married the love of his life, Sue Gremminger on October 6, 1972.

Ray had served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. He was part of the 25th Infantry, also known as “Tropical Lightning.” While serving in Vietnam he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars. Later on, in life Ray worked at Martin Marietta in Woodville, Ohio, which he retired from. Ray was a member of the American Legion Point Place Post 110, he also was a life member of the V.F.W, and a member of the AMVets Post 222 and Rossford Eagles.

Ray was a hard-working man. He had a love for fishing and working on model trains. He also loved his dogs. Ray enjoyed working on cars, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with his family at BBQ’s. He constantly helped other people and his community. Ray was known as the neighborhood lawnmower man. He was respected and adored by his family and many others and will be deeply missed.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; his children, Della (Michael) Baker, Robin Gremminger, Ray (Amanda) Gremminger, Regina Shahan-Ritchey, Ray Ritchey; and a multitude of grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and his siblings, Frank (Thu) Evans, Helen (Massoud) Ketabian, Cathy (Jim) Meek, Doris Slawter, and Cindy Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, William Slawter, James Slawter, Linda Daly, and Fleeta Lemay.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral chapel on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Ray will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park with military funeral honors. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Ann Arbor Fisher House.
