Phyllis B. Coates, 81, of Napoleon, OH passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon. She was born in Toledo, OH on January 2, 1934 to Walter and Bernice (Turner) DePew. Phyllis was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed fishing. Phyllis was an accomplished baker and was known for her pineapple upside down cakes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Arnold; children, Caroljean (James) Jones and Terry (Sue) Sterling; step-children, Ricketta (Quinn) Butler and Cindy Coates; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; children, Robert and Phillip Sterling; siblings, Edward DePew and Dorothy Auger.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Harvest Tabernacle Church, 430 E. Florence Ave. Toledo, where family will greet guests after 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary at Harvest Tabernacle Church.
