Wilson “Pete” Shafer
Wilson “Pete” Shafer, age 71, of Oregon passed away on April 27, 2012 in Marina Del Ray, California visiting his son. Pete was born to Hayes and Iris (Bihn) Shafer in Oak Harbor, Ohio on December 16, 1940. He served our country in the U.S. Army. Pete worked as a salesman for Girkins Electric and DeTec Industrial Solutions. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and volunteered for MS Society Bike to the Bay, WGTE TV, and the Kidney Foundation. Pete enjoyed his friends and family, traveling, gatherings, and sporting events. He and his friends hosted annual “kidnapping” weekends traveling together.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Scott); son, Scott Shafer; sister, Sandy (Mike) LaCourse; brothers, Ron Shafer and Edwin (Mariam) Evans and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jennifer Shafer; sister, Nancy (Melvin) Brown; and brothers, Clarence and Owen Evans.
Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday May 4, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, Kidney Foundation or Life Connection of Ohio.
