Perry Lee Hubbard

Frank Sinatra’s song, “I Did it My Way” sure applied to Perry L. Hubbard.  He had his passions in life and enjoyed them to the max.  First and foremost, was his love of Michigan football.  A close second was golf, NASCAR and bass fishing.

Perry was born May 28, 1947 to his parents Leonard and Mossie Hubbard in Pineville, KY.  His twin brother Terry Lee only survived 6 days.  Perry became a local basketball star at Pineville High School and was a force to be reckoned with. He went on to earn a basketball scholarship from Cumberland College.  He moved to Toledo, OH in 1969 and began working at GM Powertrain. While at GM he joined the men’s softball team and they won the USSSA Men’s Industrial World Series in 1986.

Perry’s family will cherish forever his “gentle giant” nature.  He loved his family and seldomly raised his voice in anger.  Perry was preceded in death by his wife Glori, daughter Angel Randall, brother Terry and his parents.  Left to mourn his passing is his sister Linda Yeary (Doug), his daughters Terrie Hubbard-James (Mike), Heather Wick (Kevin), Hope Billings (Steve), his son Jay, grandchildren Devin Huggins, Kevin and Savannah Wick, Joey, Jimmy and MaKenzie Billings and great grandchild Blake Huggins and all of his extended family and friends.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for the benefit and care of Jay.
