Norman "Old Man" Romstadt

December 17, 1922 — June 10, 2012

Norman Romstadt, 89, of Toledo passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Orchard Villa.  He was born on December 17, 1922 in Toledo to William and Eva Romstadt.  Norm served in the U.S. Navy during, WWII.  He worked for Pure Oil Refinery for 30 years, retiring in 1969.  He also owned and operated Old Man Speed Center on Main St. in Toledo.  Norm was an avid hunter and trap shooter.  He enjoyed racing cars and hydroplane boats.  In his later years, he was often finding bargains at garage sales and flea markets.

Norm is survived by his children:  David Romstadt, Norma Bell, Sandra (Gary) Palmer, Ronald (Charlotte) Romstadt, Gary (Martha) Romstadt and Bobbie Ann (Rick Trouten) Romstadt; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Carol Romstadt (our sweet aunt).  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; son, Jack; his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday from 10-1 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 1 pm.  Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
