Nicola Donna May Balister

Nicola Donna May Balister age 37 of Toledo passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Nicola was born to Thomas Balister and Barbara Matlock on June 18, 1986, in Bloomington, Indiana. She was a graduate of Glass City Academy and went on to work with her parents who were Fleet Owners in the Transportation Industry. Most recently Nicola worked at Cracker Barrel as a hostess.

Nicola did a lot for her friends. She would help her friends often enlisting her family to help with anything they needed. As smart and as loving as she was she didn't know how to show her love in the best ways. Nicola and her friends struggled with addiction and drug use. Drugs took her life. Nicola’s family hopes her death helps her friends never to use another drug again. Because of drugs today her children do not have a mother, her parents have lost a daughter and her friends have lost a friend.

Nicola is survived by her children Mykal Balister, Ayden Balister, Krystina Williams, and Annabella Hoar; parents Barbara Bauer and Thomas Balister; siblings Dale Balister, Barbara Blackburn, Benjamin Bauer, Tracey Skiver, Josette Swafford, and Tamora Mahler; father of Mykal, James Knavel; father of Ayden, Patrick Grady; father of Annabella, Daniel Hoar and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Bambi Moss, brother Jonathan Skiver and the father of Krystina, Dave Waller.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Freck Funeral Chapel from 2 until 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions to the family can be made directly on this page or by calling the funeral home.
