Nelson W. Hudson, 87, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 28, 2017.  He was born on July 3, 1929 in Toledo, the oldest of 10 children. He spent much of his childhood in Watertown, TN. He was a decorated WWII veteran in the U.S. Army where he enlisted at the age of 16 and served in Italy as a Cannoneer.  He was employed at the Keiser Jeep Corp. for 22 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Northwood V.F.W. Post #2984.

Nelson is survived by his children, Dorothy(Ray) Schwerking, Brenda (Jerry) Goeckerman, Suzanne Hudson, William (Debby) Hudson, Sherry (Andy) Ruiz, Timothy Hudson and Christopher Hudson; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Emmitt Hudson sisters, Vanetta Gierczak, Ila Madden and Lila (Wes) McNutt along with many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Marietta (Hutchinson) Hudson; daughter, Pamela DeGasto; daughter-in-law, Virginia (Pecina) Hudson;  grandsons, Chad Goeckerman and Michael Jaso; brothers, Alvie and Frank Hudson and sisters, Elsie Cameron, Versie Keller, and Alyene Tope.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. where V.F.W. services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the family to receive guests one hour prior. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Orchard Villa in Oregon for their loving kindness and excellent care.
