Nancy Colleen Chapman age 78 of Jerusalem Twp. passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Nancy was born in Toledo, Ohio to Richard C. and Eileen (Strope) McVicker on December 7, 1945. She grew up in the Ironville neighborhood and married her husband James Bradley Chapman on August 8, 1964. James passed away on January 23rd of this year. Nancy worked as a welder for National Canvas, later National Marine. She was always there to help anyone in need. Along with her husband, they made their home open to anyone down on their luck and needing a place to stay. Nancy was a volunteer for Enpuzzlement and was a faith-filled person. She loved to garden, especially beans, strawberries, and melons, and was already planning her garden for this year. Nancy was very handy and she could be found keeping busy mowing the lawn, painting the house, and keeping up on the maintenance.
Nancy is survived by her children Kevin (Linda) Chapman and Vicki (Richard Nadeau) Slinker; grandchildren Cody, Sam (Mya Plettl) Slinker, Loni Baker, and Remington Logan; great-grandchildren Desiree Slinker, Brantley Slinker, and Lydia Slinker; sisters Gret Ramasocky, Kathy (Bill) Kuyoth, Betsy (Tom) Tucker and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Shelly Marie Chapman, and siblings Judy, Karen, Cindy, Pat, Joel, Mick, Denny, and Kevin.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon, Ohio from 2 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and continue with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the family.
