Mildred V. (Vajen) Tomanicek

Mildred V. Tomanicek, age 89, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her family. She was born at home in rural Napoleon, Ohio to Carl and Ella (Welz) Vajen on April 2, 1923. Mildred was employed as a nurse for many years at Sun Oils Medical Department until her retirement. She was proud to be a founding member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She loved her family and her Lord with a passionate heart.

Mildred is survived by her sister, Norma Nagel; 14 nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Tomanicek; parents and siblings, Robert Vajen, Rosella Lee and Lloyd Vajen.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, Ohio on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Monday at 11 a.m. where family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
