Merl Jaquillard, 62, of Oregon, OH. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 4, 1952 in Toledo, OH. to Marvin and Jayne Jaquillard. Merl was a 1971 graduate of Clay High School and worked as a truck driver for Ace Hardware, retiring in 2011 after 35 years of service. Merl was also a retired volunteer fireman for the City of Oregon working out of Station #3.
He was known as a self taught “Jack of all trades” who enjoyed cooking, boating and watching NASCAR. Merl spent his summers camping with his family in Indiana at Manapogo Park. Merl loved spending time with his family and friends. He was extremely proud of his children who all served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He will be dearly missed.
Merl is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judi Jaquillard; children: Wendy Stevens, Ann Mitchell and Robert Jaquillard; grandchildren: Kelly and Drew Stevens and Jane and Lillian Mitchell; brothers, Duane and Keith Jaquillard and Luis Vazquez. Merl was preceded in death by his parents; stepmom, Alicia; brother, Edward Jaquillard and infant daughter, Sherry Beth.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. where a firemen’s service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Friday in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Fire Dept., Hospice of Northwest Ohio or American Cancer Society.
