Mercedes J. Mares, 65, of Toledo, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo. She was born in San Antonio, TX on August 27, 1948 to Servando and Consuelo (Lizcano) Jimenez. Mercedes enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, and gardening. Her pride and joy was her beloved family.
Mercedes is survived by her children, Mercedes (Aniceto) Reyes, Victoria Mares, Deanna Mares, Gloria (McKinley) Mershon, Connie (Robert Young) Mares; grandchildren, Amaya, Anthony, and Shenequia; great-granddaughter, Unique; siblings, Alexander (Robin), Raphael (Kathy), Servando Jr. Jimenez; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mercedes was preceded in death by her husband, Mariano Mares, and parents.
Family and friends will be received from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Road in Oregon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
