Melvin (Skip) Jurski Jr.

August 23, 1974 — March 6, 2021

Melvin "Skip" Peter Jurski Jr. was born to Sharron and Melvin Jurski Sr. On August 23, 1974, in Toledo, Ohio.

Skip died unexpectedly in Paris, France on March 6, 2021, following a cardiac arrest while traveling home. Despite being thousands of miles away, his family was able to say goodbye virtually thanks to the hospital staff in Paris.

Skip was a 1992 graduate of Clay High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Air Force. He served on active duty in Saudi Arabia as a tactical aircraft maintenance journeyman. He was honorably discharged and joined the Air Force Reserves, where he was eventually recruited for an overseas contracting job in 2008 and continued until the time of his death. His most recent employer was General Atomics. Our family has come to realize what a truly amazing military family he has.

Skip and Jennie met in 2008 before his first deployment as a contractor. Their daughter Lily was born in 2010, joining her older half-brother, Luke, to complete their family. Skip and Jennie eventually married in 2016. Skip was a die-hard Buckeyes fan, enjoyed traveling, golfing, and being on the water just like his Dad. He was incredibly easygoing and always up for anything. He loved spending his time home with his family and was an amazing father to Luke and Lily.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Peter Jurski Sr. Skip is survived by his wife, Jennie; children, Lucas Jeremy and Lillian Jurski; mother, Sharron Jurski; sister, Lisa (Alan) Coffey; in-laws, Bob and Sharon Supinski;  sisters-in-law, Kerry (Eric) Jeffries and Jaimie (Tom) Corwin, nieces and nephews, Carter Coffey, Nathan, and Natalie Jeffries and Emily Corwin, along with many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel at 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, OH 43616 on Sunday, March 21st from 2:00-7:00 p.m. A service will be held Monday morning in the funeral home, March 22nd at 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank the French medical personnel for their valiant efforts, the U.S. Embassy in France for their assistance, and Anvil for help with communications throughout this process.

We also would like to send a special "Thank You" to his employer, General Atomics, for their emotional support, compassion, and financial assistance. It is difficult to put into words how extremely grateful we are for everything they have done for our family.

The family is asking in place of flowers, that any donations be sent to Bay Area Credit Union in the names of Lillian Jurski and/or Lucas Jeremy.
